In Georgia, they stated that NATO has been misleading Ukraine and Georgia for years about joining the Alliance

Tbilisi Mayor and Georgian Dream ruling party Secretary General Kakha Kaladze stated that NATO leadership has been misleading Ukraine and Georgia for years by promising prospects of joining the Alliance. This is reported by Georgian media, writes UNN.

Details

According to Kaladze, for many years, NATO representatives repeatedly stated that “the Alliance’s door is open” for Ukraine and Georgia. At the same time, according to the politician, NATO officials are now effectively admitting that there are no prospects for these countries to be accepted into the organization.

Kaladze believes that current statements indicate a change in the Alliance’s position regarding further expansion.

Georgia Talks About Multi-Vector Policy

Tornike Pagava, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, stated that if NATO definitively refuses further expansion, Tbilisi will have to pursue a multi-vector foreign policy course.

According to him, individual member states of the Alliance, particularly France and Great Britain, are already pointing out the absence of plans for further NATO expansion to the east.
