The validity period of the extraordinary decrees issued by the Hungarian government, which prohibited the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, concluded on May 13, 2026.
This information was reported by the Hungarian publication Agroinform.
The emergency decree imposed a ban on the import of over 20 goods from Ukraine, including:
- wheat;
- corn;
- sunflower seeds;
- rapeseed;
- flour;
- poultry meat;
- eggs.
It is noted that the new Hungarian parliament ratified several decrees at the legislative level, thereby confirming their validity, but the ban on importing Ukrainian products was not among them.
The only provision included in the new law is the requirement to notify the National Food Chain Safety Office (NEBIH) about the import of products, but this requirement was already in effect for all goods previously.
The Association of Hungarian Farmers believes that the ban on importing products from Ukraine needs to be legally enshrined.
