Польща утилізує МіГ, які запитувала Україна – ЗМІ

Poland has suspended the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, allegedly due to Kyiv’s failure to fulfill an agreement on drone technology. The aircraft will be gradually decommissioned due to wear and tear.

Poland is disposing of MiG jets that Ukraine requested - media

Poland will gradually phase out the MiG-29 fighter jets it intended to transfer to Ukraine in exchange for drone technology. This is reported by the publication Wiadomosci, informs UNN.

Details

It is noted that Kyiv was supposed to provide its drone technologies, and Warsaw, in return, was to transfer its remaining MiG-29 aircraft stationed at the 22nd Tactical Air Base in Malbork. However, the agreements have currently been put on hold.

We presented Ukraine with a clear offer regarding drones and technologies. Initially, there was an agreement in this area. Today, Ukraine is not fulfilling this agreement. We are ready for further negotiations

– stated the Minister of National Defence, Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

According to him, this issue has a political basis. At the same time, the publication points out, “the result is paradoxical”: since Ukraine – as the Minister of National Defence states – is not fulfilling its obligations under the agreement, Poland will not transfer any equipment that could be useful to Kyiv at the front.

“Simply put: the MiGs are simply wearing out – they are exceeding their certified flight hours, and no one plans to invest in their further modernization. Therefore, the aircraft will be gradually phased out, one by one,” – the media concludes.

Recall

A few days ago, the Polish defense group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa announced its readiness to service and repair Ukrainian MiG-29 and F-16 fighter jets, despite Warsaw’s repeated refusal to transfer additional Soviet aircraft to Ukraine.
